~ With summer comes the heat, which brings on the sweat, which can disturb your make up if you don't adjust a few of your regular products. So below I'll highlight a few products that I switch up if I'm going to an event, for long wear, if I'm wearing make up in the summer heat, or if I'm performing on stage! I'll recommend a few brands, but to really tailor it to yourself, I'd recommend a consultation! So here we go....
Great make up begins with skin care as I have said before! Exfoliating is so important, and I do it 3 times a week. My favorite ones are exfoliating scrub from Clinique, 7 day scrub from Clinique, or Monat which has cranberry seeds and some amazing skin ingredients in...you leave that one on for 5 minutes before you rinse and it acts as a masque as well.
SUNSCREEN is a must in summer, but you really should be wearing it all year round! My favorite is currently out of stock, Monats SPF 30, it's light enough to wear u der make up and doesn't feel greasy at all! My other choices would be Clarins SPF 50
It is lightweight, oil free, great under make up, and has an environmental protection as well 😀 👍. I also like Clinique Super Defense it's also lightweight and easy to use under make up! 😉 You need to reapply sunscreen through the day, so I recommend SuperGoop powder Spf to touch up over make up and take down shine as well!
So one step you need to make sure you are using to take off your make up, and or sunscreen as well! My go to is Monats make up remover balm. You emulsify a bit in your hands, rub all over and it dissolves the debris, make up, environmental gunk, and sunscreen. I use a clothe to rinse it off and make sure I have a nice deep clean! You want to follow up with your regular cleanser to deep clean your skin! Follow with your regular skin care.. ✨️ 😉 💕
So a good make up look begins with a good Primer! It prepares your skin for make up, so it goes on smoother, it will wear longer, and it really makes everything easier to blend. My current favorite is Rare Beauty ✨️ it is good for all skin types, it's not sticky and it goes on smoothly. A few others that are popular are the Milk Gripping primer, which I haven't tried myself, but it's a top seller. If you want an affordable option elf makes a gripping primer as well.
Foundation is going to come down to your preferences. Coverage, finish, and wearability. For events and times I want long wearing, I have been using Urban Decay Face Bond self setting foundation 🙃 it is waterproof, so great if you sweat like me 😉 it looks natural on the skin, but offers coverage at the same time! Make Up Forever HD foundation is also a favorite. It's long wearing, looks seamless on the skin, and comes in 2 finishes now, regular and radiant. From the drug store the Maybelline Super Stay is long wearing, easy to blend and a bit more budget friendly! 😀
Concealer comes down to preference as well. I have been using Monat, it's got skincare ingredients infused. I use it around my undereye and around the side of my nose. IT Cosmetics bye bye undereye is also a favorite, my other favorite was discontinued.
Powder is going to set your foundation or just take down your shine ✨️ my favorite for setting and forgetting is Urban Decay which as I look now, is discontinued...what a bummer! It was waterproof and I would dust it on and press it in. So I'll share my other favorite is KVD beauty
It is long wearing, easy to use and portable. I use a large powder brush to brush this one on in my t zone so forehead, nose, cheeks and chin, and then press it in as well. It really helps with wearability of your foundation.
Eyeliner my go to is KVD liquid liner, it's waterproof. If you don't like waterproof and prefer a pencil type, I like a crayon that's waterproof and I have found Avon to be great for wearing, easy to use, and inexpensive. I also like the Sephora brand eyeliner pencils, they have a 12 hour formula.
You are going to want to really set your make up well if you are in the summer heat, so you want to finish your look with a setting spray and the top for me is Ben Ney Final Seal spray.
I read many years ago that they use it on the Disney Princesses to set their make up, and we all know how hot it must be with the wig, the costume, the heat of the day and they must have perfect looking make up!!! My other favorite is a cult classic Urban Decay Up All Nighter spray. A new up and coming favorite for many is Patrick Starrr ✨️ setting spray, only thing is it is aerosol.
So there is a few products you can switch up for events or heat, or sweating.
If you suffer from excessive sweating, talk to your doctor because there are options such as BOTOX or medically recommended antiperspirant such as Drysol. I have used it on my face, as a treatment before an event! I use it at night on clean skin, for 3 nights in a row, and then every 3 days as a touch up if it's during a heatwave and I am sweating alot. 😓 It's not something to do often, but from time to time it can help boost your confidence.
So there you have it, your summertime products to get your through a heatwave 😉 or menopause 😉 As always, ask me if you have any questions 😉 and not every tip is for every person! We are all individuals and have our own concerns.
Stay cool Stay dry this summer ☀️
